Springtime Blues

Writer's picture: Björn KlausBjörn Klaus

Friendly, bright blue sky.

Warming yellow sun.

Clear air and fresh wind.

Thatis spring in its awakening.

It is quite enough, just to be.

To put on one's light jacket and step outside the door.

To look at the blossoming trees and meadows.

And to face life in a friendly way.

But inside, not everything has awakened from hibernation.

For too long one was at home in oneself and one's own cave.

Too long exposed to the plague that is still wreaking havoc.

And for too long, the Internet has been screaming discord and world agony at you.

It can happen that you get the blues in spring.

The "blue feeling" that won't let you go, no matter what you treat it with.

It delays the smile and accelerates the tiredness.

And you wonder : "Why? It's so beautiful outside."

Maybe it's just me, the scribbler, who feels this,

while others eat ice cream and go hiking,

Maybe it's everyone else too, the fellow human beings, who feel this,

while they ride bicycles and children play.

This text is weakened by the spring blues.

It is what it describes, or a rather indignant reaction to it.

It is written in a minor key and whether the cadence ends in a fallacy remains to be seen.

The melody is black, white, international and the harmonies rather dissonant.

I often think it is because of the persistent cold.

The sun drives it away, only to be driven away by it later in the evening itself.

The cold reminds us that all is not yet well again.

Neither in the seasons, nor in the world.

It's hard to accept that the world will never be quite right.

But as in music, this serves to make man act and fight back.

Against the cacophony of war, the rages of disease, the relentlessness of death, the drone of loneliness.

But there is so much good to be done and meaning to be created.

People to meet and paths to walk, alone and together.

I look forward to this dawning of spring,

and hope that soon the sky will be the only blue.

Is this said fallacy?

Find out, my friend, and tell me at our next meeting.

One thing is for sure: Afro-Americans have done it before.

You can create something wonderful out of the blues.

If you can find a way to channel it.
